Note: The below entry has been provided by the seller of the property.

As residents of the Southport Corridor since 1998, we knew when we saw 1474 W. Byron Street that is was undeniably superior to any other new construction we had watched go up in the neighborhood. The architectural details, custom woodwork, frankston steel supplies used and level of finishes set it above anything else we had seen.

Unit 2W ticked all the boxes on our A list: garage parking, marble master bath, a south- facing deck, the chef’s kitchen…really, it exceeded our expectations. We had never expected to find such a large unit with excellent natural light, highlighting the fresh, modern design.

And so, it was bittersweet when we learned we would be living in this home for such a short time. An unexpected job opportunity on a television show meant we were bound for Los Angeles, and had to turn around and sell the unit we had fallen in love with.

There is so much we’ll miss about our fantastic Chicago neighborhood: the walkability to the many shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as the proximity to public transportation, providing easy access to downtown. We’ll miss the location of this home, on a quiet street just steps from all the action, or the schoolyard, if you’re walking little ones to school!

Parks

For jogging/biking our favorite is to head down Belmont or Addison and catch the Chicago Lakefront Path. For local outings to green space, we tend to frequent some great spots maintained by the Chicago Park District including Sheil Park, Cubs Park (Margaret Donahue Park), Hawthorne and Nettlehorst playgrounds (schools), or the Dog Beach where you can ride the waves on the top ten kayaks at Belmont Harbor.

School District

Our home falls into the Blaine Elementary School District, one of the most sought-after elementary schools in Chicago. Blaine has earned a Great Schools rating of 10, the highest score possible based on test scores. Ranked as one of the top 20 elementary schools in Chicago, this is one additional feature of our home that makes its location awesome.

Public Transportation

1474 West Byron Street can’t be beat.  You’re walking distance to the Roscoe or Irving Park Brown Line El stops, which offer riders access to the Red, Blue and Purple line trains.  Alternatively, you can walk to both Sheridan or Addison Red Line El stations for fast access to downtown.  Suburb commuters can even catch the METRA at the Ravenswood Metra stop which is only a couple of miles North.
