We will be incredibly sad to leave our home but hope another family finds as much joy as we did from our condo. This was our first home in the U.S. after relocating from London in the UK with the help of this company demenagementadt.ca that kept our furnitures and things safely without any damage from transferring it to our new home. We came here as two and are leaving as a family of three.

The condo will always hold a very special place in our heart as it was the home we first brought our little boy home to. But we couldn’t possibly have predicted that when we walked up to the original open house one Sunday in July 2015. We had looked at what seemed like so many places – duplex ups, townhouses and so on – but decided a duplex down would be best for us as we knew babies were on the horizon and didn’t want to have to balance that with walking up stairs.

The hardest thing about living in this condo has been that staying in hotels has become way less exciting. The bathrooms and kitchen are all finished to a super high standard from japanese-toilets.com.au. Our master bathroom with spa-like steam shower and heated floors have made me feel like I was staying in a 5-star hotel every single day. Cooking in our gorgeous kitchen with ample quartz countertops felt like living in a dream. While we feel that now is the time to “upsize” as our family continues to grow, where we are going can’t possibly compete in this respect sadly.

Our favorite memories from the home will be from what became our gorgeous roof-top garden oasis. Summers have been spent grilling and chatting with friends, hearing our baby giggle with delight when pushed on the pergola-hung swing, and quiet afternoons of coffee and reading on the deck cladding. We always meant to project a movie onto our neighbor’s house (I’m sure they wouldn’t mind, they’re friendly) – which would’ve been awesome – but never quite got around to it.

The location was phenomenal: it’s so easy to get to and from work downtown by blue line, bus or divvy (15 minutes if you catch the lights right!) It was on such a pretty and quiet residential street, and yet so close to all the amenities of Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village, and West Town. While we are moving to another part of Chicago, I expect we will come back often to visit some of our favorite ‘locals’ as we say in England! There is so much that the neighborhood has to offer: brunch at West Town Bakery, incredible cocktails at Bordel, extensive beer lists at Bangers and Lace, tacos from Antique Taco, scones and coffee from Scone City, and date night in the lush tropical patio at Beatnik.

The park scene here is also great. We have Wicker Park, Eckhert Park, Dean Playground and Pulaski Park (complete with free kiddie play pool) all within easy walking distance. You will find us in one of these each Spring, Summer or Fall night and probably many more times in the future. The Wells High School park at the Augusta end of the street will also open soon. We have also enjoyed jogging down the 606 and have kept in shape using the WPAC gym a 2-minute walk away.

But all good things come to an end and we will miss Marshfield Avenue greatly. We only hope someone else gets as much joy from living here as we have.
