The longer we live in Logan Square, the more we love it here.  Buying our condo in August of 2005 was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.  How many sellers in today’s market will truly say that!  Despite the current market conditions, moving to this property was something we are so glad we did.  Although to be honest, we needed a little bit of luck to push us in the right direction back then.

It was a good thing that the MLS malfunctioned and emailed us a place in Logan Square even though we were actually searching in the Wicker Park/Bucktown areas.  After looking at countless two bedroom/two bath condos in our price range, for the same price, we saw a three bedroom place in a handsome red brick new construction 5-flat with spacious rooms, nice finishes and a panoramic view of Logan Boulevard. The great people at https://southerncaliforniahomebuyers.com/riverside/ sent us some really great pictures of the place. We were lured out to visit based on those pictures and fell in love at first sight.

Where we knew immediately that the condo was the right fit for us, we could have never imagined that this neighborhood (that we didn’t know as much about) would be such an ideal fit.  There are so many reasons why we have since then fallen in love Logan Square. The Boulevard is beautiful, wide, green and lined with flowering trees and turn of the century mansions.  Logan Square is close enough to the bustling, trendy Wicker Park/Bucktown but is far less crowded.  When our friends come to visit, they can actually park their cars without having to drive around looking for a space.  On nice days, the Boulevard is filled with people walking their dogs, pushing strollers, having picnics and barbeques on the grass, sitting outside at restaurants or visiting the ever-growing Sunday farmer’s market in the summer.

Everything we need is nearby, including an Xsport gym that opened a couple of years ago right across the street from Target.  You can get a manicure at the new SpaO, a cup of coffee at either Starbucks or New Wave Coffee, wine and cheese at Provenance, and locally-sourced groceries at the community-owned Dill Pickle.   The Logan Square farmer’s market only steps from our home and during the summer enjoy locally grown produce bought here.  Last but not least, our condo is only a 7 minute walk to the Logan Square El stop. Did I mention that all of these places are within walking distance? (See the full Walkscore for our home here.)

When we moved in, there was already a sprinkling of good places to eat within four blocks of us, like the classic urban bar and grill, Dunlays, the family-owned Italian place, Buona Terra, which always makes the lists for top Italian places in Chicago and the eclectic and famous Lula Café.  Since 2005, things have gotten even better, as lots of articles in local publications have noticed. For example, right across from the Logan Square El stop, there is a new crowding of great restaurants: Longman and Eagle Restaurant and Inn (American Contemporary), Azucar (tapas), El Cid (Mexican), Ciao Napoli (Naples-style pizza), and a brand-new wine bar set to open in late summer 2011.

Also nearby are Revolution Brewing and the Rocking Horse.  Hachi’s Kitchen and Wasabi are a stone’s throw as well for sushi lovers.  La Boulangerie offers delicious crepes and French baked goods, and Jam, a nationally-reviewed brunch spot with a French toast that Food and Wine magazine called one of the ten best dishes in the country, is under construction right now less than one block from our condo.
