What we love about our neighborhood, Ravenswood Manor:
Before we bought our condo, we had never even heard about this tucked away neighborhood. We stumbled upon it by chance and are so happy we did! It is a very quiet and residential city neighborhood that is close to everything including restaurants, shopping and parks. Ravenswood Manor Park is only a couple blocks away from our home and has a wonderful children’s play lot, an amazing perennial garden and free concerts held outside during the summer months.
One of the key features of our neighborhood is the walkability. The Francisco Brown Line train stop is only 2 blocks away, (~30min to downtown), which makes it a perfect walk while still being far enough away to avoid any noise. Lincoln Square is less than a 15 minute walk, which brings with it many wonderful restaurants and shops including Fine Wine Brokers, Paciugo Ice Cream Parlor, Hellas Pastry Shop and Chicago staple Old Town School of Folk Music. We are also located a short distance away from Albany Park, home to our personal favorite Lebanese restaurant Semiramis.
Parents will be impressed not only with the abundance of parks, but also the outstanding schools our neighborhood provides. There is a new Montessori School on the first floor of our building, Waters Elementary, a CPS magnet school, is our neighborhood school and Northside College Preparatory, a CPS magnet high school, is less than a 5min drive away.
Those looking to commute via the highway will be pleased to find that it is only a 10 min drive to all the highways (Lake Shore Drive, the Kennedy (90) and the Edens (94).
What we love about our building:
- Small but not too small—17 units
- We LOVE our neighbors.
- Indoor parking (i.e. no shoveling out the car in the winter!)
- In-building elevator (quite rare for a building of this size)
- Storage unit and bicycle storage in basement
- Large rooftop deck with amazing downtown Chicago views
What we love about our unit:
- We are on the top floor so there is no one above us.
- We have a great view of downtown Chicago from our balcony.
- Much wider than your typical long and narrow Chicago floor plan
- We have plenty of storage in our unit.
- We LOVE the 10 foot ceilings.
- Our master bedroom suite is very spacious.
- Our unit has southern exposure, so we get a lot of natural light.
- Updated kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops.
- We have an actual laundry room AND a utility room.
