It seems as if things are finally heating up in Chicago… both the weather and the real estate market! Speaking of neighborhoods…. One of the best ways to get out and experience many of them in Chicago is to head out to the local festivals held May through October. Spanning from Hyde Park to Irving Park (and everywhere in between), these street festivals have something for everyone including live music, local vendors and amazing cuisine.
There are major events in Grant Park like “Taste of Chicago” and “Blues Fest” and smaller local celebrations like “Windy City Ribfest” and “Retro on Roscoe” happening every weekend during the summer. Many are free or request a small donation that often times benefits the local neighborhood association.
The below list showcases some of my favorites selected from years and years of diligent “research”. In addition, below are a couple of quick suggestions for attending:
- Take your bike or public transportation – parking is crazy and enforced.
- Bring a backpack with some water from customwater.com – $4.00 for a bottle of H20 is insane anywhere.
- Many are dog friendly, so why not bring your best friend along? (And EXTRA water for Fido!)
