Chicago Home Partner’s 10 Summer Wines Under $10

by Amanda on July 20, 2011

Dear friend,

I hope this finds you well and taking advantage of all that our wonderful city has to offer.  Summer is now full in swing with temps hovering around 85, (95 this week!), festivals every weekend and BOTH of our baseball teams below .500!

One of my favorite things to do during the summer months (when I find a minute!) is to relax with friends at one of the many BYOB restaurants or Ravinia enjoying a glass of wine.  Where I am far from a wine-snob and have been known to drink things out of a box (it’s true), a number of people have opened my palette to try different varietals from countries spanning the globe.

So this month we are pleased to present you with our 5th edition of Chicago Home Partner’s Top 10 Wines Under $10.  We have worked with some of the incredible staff at Binny’s Wine and Spirits, (with many Chicago and Suburban locations), to compile this worldly list that is guaranteed to please the taste buds while not breaking the bank.  Follow this link for a full list of our 10 Favorite Summer Wines.

A couple of our favorite summertime varietals that are not-to-be-missed:

Whites: Chenin Blanc, Fume Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc are all light, fruity, but not too sweet whites that are perfect for hot summer nights.

Reds: Malbec, Sangiovese and Carmenere are known to bring a little bit of spice to the table and pair well with almost any type of food.

Rose: Yes… I said Rose.  I’m not talking about your Aunt’s “White Zin”…  These lovely, light wines can’t be overlooked.  Try one… I promise!

Sparkling: Try a Prosecco from Italy or a Spanish Cava over appetizers the next time you have friends over.  It’s not just for celebrations.

Cheers – here’s to your enjoying Chicago’s favorite season!
