As Chicago real estate market experts, we take immense pride in releasing our annual “Chicago Real Estate Roundup” each year. Our 2019 predictions proved accurate, with home pricing relatively “flat” overall, an uptick in inventory and low interest rates throughout the year.
However, near the end of 2019 we noticed some anomalies that gave us pause and eventually led to the delay in our release. Where a majority of 2019 posted declines in total number of sales, contracts and pricing – the opposite occurred in Q4. In fact, the latter part of 2019 posted better pricing than Q4 2018 and stronger contract and sales numbers than Q4 2018.
