622 W Waveland Ave. has been an incredible place for us to build our growing family. We were initially attracted to the vintage aesthetic, the spacious floor plan, and the large outdoor living spaces. Since moving in, we have continued to love those aspects of the unit, while discovering just how great the location and neighborhood are.
We moved into Waveland Ave as a newly married couple. We love spending time outside, and the backyard space is shared only with the 5 other units in the building and is rarely occupied.
There is a large green space immediately across the street, but even better, the Lake Shore path is only a two-minute walk under Lake Shore Drive. As our family has grown with the addition of our son, we have spent hours walking the path, exploring (and sometimes fishing) the harbor, or having picnics by the water. There are also dozens of great playgrounds nearby and we have had a great time discovering new places for our son to play, making a mental note of which have the best slides and which have the best splash pad.
Wrigley Field is a short walk away, and we have used our home to host friends for a BBQ, and then walk to the game. The unit is perfect for entertaining, with a large dining room adjacent to the kitchen. We’ve had no problem cooking for as many as 10 people, even hosting our extended family for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The living room is spacious, with enough room for a reading nook in the sunroom, a workspace, and a large sitting area around the hearth. The room gets a ton of natural light, and transitions perfectly from summer to winter. It is cozy around the hearth with a blanket in winter, and the windows can be opened for a wonderful breeze in the summer.
Following the pandemic, both of us needed to transition to working from home, and 622 W Waveland has been easy to accommodate. We had plenty of space for workspaces on opposite ends of the home, and can both be on calls without hearing or interrupting each other. The home has plenty of room for our child and nanny to be playing all the while. During the pandemic, we were even more grateful for the spacious unit and easy access to the outdoors.
We are sad to be leaving such an incredible home and great chapter in our life. We will be moving to a new state to be closer to family, and hope that we can find a home there that is as great for our family as 622 W Waveland.
